thoughts and a Quick Quote

I'll be working on the basement getting it ready for set dress - Cam and I had a great meeting w/ Jere, Kara and Monica last night. Marc and Jere must get together and discuss the logistics of hiding limbs and other issues. BTW - We have a twin mattress we can destroy! WOOHOO! Carry on artists!

karma

I am entirely inspired by the dedication I am already seeing from you, my fabulous crew, in pre-production. It means a great deal to have as many as possible making it to these meetings. I know some of you don't have a lot to interject at this time but your presence at our meetings is important to me.

I hope this is becoming your project as much as it has been mine over the last few years. I'm trying very hard to share it, to be a good collaborator. Many of you have been complimenting me on how hard I'm working and how much Camdon and I are getting done. THANK YOU! We really need that encouragement right now deep in the throes of securing locations, casting talent and getting the paperwork done. Your support and excitement mean so much to us at this stage and I hope we can give the same to you throughout this process when your roles become more demanding.

I can't help but think about the good karma I'm constantly feeling surrounding this project and sometimes I wonder how that can be considering the subject matter. But then I remember, the very essence of this story, what it all boils down to is this...

The safety of children.

How could we not have great karma?

Have a great weekend.

Mythological background

Have you heard there are no new stories? Just new versions of the stories we already know? Every story told has its roots deep in in something that came before and sometimes it only resonates with our subconscious. Life W/O Parole's storyline reeks of mythological metaphors.

Once Upon a Time...

Demeter, the Goddess of Agriculture had a beautiful daughter, Persephone, and they were very close.

Hades, the God of the Underworld, had gambled with Persephone's father Zeus and lost. Zeus had put Persephone in the pot.

When it came time for Hades to claim his new bride, no one had informed either Persephone or Demeter of their ensuing separation.

Hades placed a lovely flower in a conspicious place for Persephone to come upon and be drawn to. The iris is still sometimes referred to today as the flower of deception. Hades burst from the earth driving four horses and a golden chariot. He swept the girl up and descended again into the underworld to make him his wife.

Demeter was devastated to find her beloved daughter missing. She went out into the world to search for Persephone. Her absence from her duties as the Goddess of Agriculture caused years of drought. She stalked the earth, in search of the culprit deserving of her wrath and vengeance.

At one point Persephone learned of her mother's search, and expressed her desire to Hades to see her mother again. Hades heard her plea, but before accomodating the young girl's request he offered her a pomegranante, infused with an elixer that made it impossible for her to live in the human world for more than two months at a time or she would die. Therefore tying the girl to the Underworld forever.

This is a mild and short version of the story, from memory. I encourage everyone to google images of Persephone, Demeter, Hades, read their tales. Also look at Themis, Athena, and Kali.
